Objects of War : 500 years of humanity’s most important scientific discoveries and artistic creations are mapped in time with the incidence of wars, massacres and genocide to reveal reoccurring patterns of creative human output that flourish after conflict.

 

Frequency visualisation and analysis of event counts 5 years pre-conflict (left half) and 5 years post-conflict (right half) shows a significant increase in creativity after periods of social upheaval.

 

The lenticular print displays a 5-frame animation of timescale groupings and data analysis. Tilt left to right cycles through creation events grouped by year, decade and century along with numeric information overlays.
